Dropkick Murphys are fresh off their European tour and haven't slowed down with their tour schedule. They are currently traveling the states and playing to sold out shows

Dropkick Murphys played to a sold out Texas crowd this past Wednesday at Stubbs in Austin. They came out fully charged to give the Austin fans an energetic and very well satisfying performance just like they have always seemed to do.

A Live Show That is Very Much Alive

The boys from Boston shot on to the stage like a bullet from a gun. Scruffy Wallace (Bagpipes & Tin Whistle) brought the crowd to a roar with the opening traditional tune, Cadence to Arms, which led straight in to another oldie, Do or Die.

From start to finish the guys in the band didn’t seem to let up. With sweat flying from their foreheads and spit from their mouths, the band gave the Austin fans one hell of a show. Ken and Al belted out the vocals to tune after tune which had the crowd of intense fans pumping their fists and circle pitting before them.

Guitarist for the band James Lynch shined in the spotlight with the look and skills of a true rock guitarist. He was on point along with band mates Tim Brennan (Guitar, Accordion & Vocals), Matt Kelly (Drums) and Jeff DaRosa who plays every instrument under the sun.

Their set list was a great mix of oldies and new tunes thrown in with covers that they busted out in a timely manner. Their songs are filled with a ton of heart and a real life aspect that pulls you in and keeps you close by through its entirety.

Dropkick Murphys and Their Fans

A great aspect about Dropkick is that they don’t bore the crowd with too much talking. They leave you with just enough and they get their point across in the process. They stopped to praise their fans and give thanks to all those who have supported them throughout the years. As well as a few cheers for the great city of Austin and the fans that inhabit it.

The Dropkick fans are a diverse bunch of people that remain very loyal to the band. The crowd that showed up was a mix of young punk rockers, old hippies, diehard fans and even a new class that joined the ranks after their cover of I'm Shipping Up To Boston made it big.

All in all the energy at the show was contagious. It seemed to pass from the band to the crowd and back up to the band. It’s the circle of rock life. The band feeds off the crowd and the crowd in turn feeds off the band and their performance.

The End of The Night Came to Soon

Towards the end of their set, the fans got a chance to swarm the stage and sing and dance with the band. It was the female fans who joined the band for, Kiss Me I’m S#!t Faced, and the men who took the stage for their final song of the night, The Boys on The Dock.

It’s a rarity to get the chance to share the stage with your favorite band, but Dropkick makes it happen for those fans every show. They know that they have a loyal bunch of fans and they like to keep it that way.

The Next Step for Dropkick Murphys

Dropkick Murphys will end their current American Tour with a week of concerts in their hometown of Boston starting March 12th. The band will also be releasing a live album/DVD that was recorded during the same time in Boston last year. The album is set to be released on March 16th, but is available for pre order on their website at www.dropkickmurphys.com
